Connecting Back to You!

Life can be so overwhelming sometimes. Between work, chores and to do lists we tend to lose focus of it all, allowing stress and anxiety take over our minds and bodies. Putting others first instead of ourselves. This life is so fast paced, there seems to be so much information dished out to us on a daily basis that our brain goes to overdrive. Acting on automatic pilot is so common driving us to the feeling of numbness. Working like robots. Now is the time to slow down.  Instead of developing negative patterns of stress relief such as smoking or drinking we can carve out time for ourselves and our bodies. Stop trying to do everything perfect.  You need to find time for you. Stop making other people a constant priority and put yourself first for a change. If you are a people pleaser like me, then this one is for you.

Always putting others first is tiring and at the end of the day you are left depleted of energy and power. When you constantly give to others expecting others to do the same, you are the loser and no one is to blame but you! You are the only one who knows what you need and no one is going to save you or do it for you.

Taking care of yourself means carving out personal time to do the things you need to keep you healthy, energised and feeling powerful. Slowing down means quieting the mind and listening to your heart. Listening to what you need.

Deep inside us there is a world of wisdom. We already know what we need. We just need to learn how to listen to our inner voice, that quiet voice within of wisdom and intuition that knows exactly what to do. There are ways in which you can connect to your self and find power within you that helps you stay emotionally healthy, energised and powerful.

Here are two steps to connect back to you.

Find a special place for yourself, a sacred spot where you can be alone and quiet.

  1. Just breathe deeply. One big breath in, hold it, and then exhale slowly. Again, repeat three times. Then ask yourself out loud,  how do I feel? Right now, in this moment how do I feel? Listen, trust your intuition and see what comes up for you. In the beginning it might feel wrong, but trust yourself to know what is right for you.
  2. Then ask yourself out loud, what can I do for myself? How can I help myself? What do I need in this moment?  Listen, and trust what comes up for you. Then simply go do it! Take action and make it happen. It can be writing in a journal, getting all your thoughts down on paper can be a cleansing process, or it can be simply relaxing and taking a hot bath. Or, it can be listening to a guided meditation. Meditating is a powerful tool used to quiet the mind and connect back to your inner power. Meditating brings you back to the present moment where life happens!

Here is an example of a meditation that might help quite your mind and get you back to the present moment.  There are countless meditations to hear free online that everyone can have access to. Feeling stress and anxiety means you’re mind is set in the future. Remember life only happens in the present moment!!
