Love

I recently read a true definition of the word love. Although if you ask someone what it is, often you will get something different from everyone. Everyone has their own definition of it, according to their experience of it. Some say love is pain, some say love is to suffer. Love is fear, love is hard , and the list goes on and on.

The definition I read was that love is the unconditional acceptance of what is. So, I say love is acceptance and that sounds right to me. Love is not fear or suffering or pain. We as humans tend to make generalisations about an experience we’ve had, by making it mean that since we felt this then that is the way it is for everyone. It ‘s okay, we all do this. It somehow makes things easier for us to accept. However, there is no one truth. There is only your truth and mine. Today I shall share my truth with you.  So, take what resonates, and leave the rest.

Upon reading my brief article, I invite you to keep an open mind for just a few minutes. If you are reading this short passage, then something has brought us together for a brief amount of time, and I am so grateful for your attention.

Negative emotions are part of life. We cannot avoid them, destroy them or evade them. They will persist if you do not acknowledge them. God, the Universe, your creator or whatever higher power you believe in has made the process of enlightenment a unique one. It is not offered so easily. Love is not felt or given so simply. The key and magic of this process if you will is that in order to transcend negativity you must allow it to be. You must acknowledge its presence and in order to do this, feelings must be felt. That is the only way they can be released, surpassed and overcome. Accepting them rather than avoiding them is the place to start.

Once you allow yourself to feel all it is you are feeling, then you will have the capacity to let them go and they will no longer have control over you. So, my message for you dear one, is to fully accept yourself right now in this moment as you are. Faults and all. Feel your emotions, no matter how hard, feel them, for they are a part of you. Feel the fear, feel the stress, feel the sadness, the hurt, and then let them go. Be gentle and kind to yourself. Take care of yourself. Learn to be alone, learn to accept yourself fully as you are, for only then will you know how to truly love and be loved.
